MCOE Opens Enrollment for Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting Vocational Training Programs

The Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE) is currently enrolling students for two vocational training programs: Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting. Applications are due June 4, 2021 and forms are available online or by calling 707-467-5123.

Both programs offer paths to rewarding careers in health care. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent, complete a medical screening, and submit a letter of recommendation, among other requirements.

Medical Assistant

This comprehensive course is approved by the State of California Department of Education. The Medical Assistant course trains students thoroughly in all aspects of Administrative and Clinical medical assisting. Students will learn anatomy, medical terminology, how to communicate with physicians as well as patients, and HIPAA regulations. This hands-on training also covers areas such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, various medical tests, and other areas of medical assisting. Students will complete both classroom training, as well as on the job training through externship hours.

Dental Assistant

The State of California Department of Education and the Dental Board of California has approved this comprehensive course. This hands-on didactic course offers comprehensive training in the role and in all aspects of a professional dental assistant, as well as the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to acquire a job in a dental office.
