Expanded Learning

Creating enriching opportunities beyond the classroom for every student.

The Expanded Learning department at the Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE) supports afterschool and summer programs that provide students with safe, engaging opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

MCOE houses the region 1 (Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, and Sonoma) expanded learning technical assistance (TA) provider and the county's ASES Consortium (KUDOS 4 Kids).Through collaboration with schools and community partners, the department offers resources, training, and technical support to ensure high-quality programs that enrich learning beyond the classroom.

What is Expaned Learning?

"Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. (CDE)
